During PestWorld 2025, MSPCA Executive Staff, Andrea and Kristin Coron and MSPCA President, Brett Lieberman and MSPCA Vice-President, Dani Collinson had the pleasure of tracking down Kevin Poland to present him with a well-deserved plaque of appreciation — recognizing his outstanding service as a Director and Past President of the Maryland State Pest Control Association. Also present to make this even more special were Kevin's wife, Hanna, his young daughter, and MSPCA Director and former American Pest colleague, Joleen Matthews.
Kevin’s contributions to MSPCA have left a lasting mark on the organization, reflecting both his professionalism and his deep commitment to strengthening Maryland’s pest control community.
A Director Who Built Stronger Foundations
As an MSPCA Director, Kevin went beyond the typical call of duty. He chaired the Bylaws Review Committee, leading a detailed review and modernization of the Association’s organizational documents. Under his guidance, MSPCA’s bylaws and governance materials were updated to align with current best practices for nonprofit associations, ensuring that MSPCA remains compliant, transparent, and well-structured for years to come.
Kevin approached this process with the same thoroughness and collaboration he’s known for in his professional life. His leadership helped clarify roles, streamline board procedures, and bring MSPCA’s framework fully in line with today’s standards for responsible governance.
“Kevin’s thoughtful leadership brought our governing documents into the modern era — setting MSPCA up for long-term success,” noted Dani Collinson, MSPCA Vice-President.
Leading Through Transition
In November 2024, Kevin stepped into the role of MSPCA President, leading the Association with enthusiasm and steadiness through the first half of 2025. Even in a relatively short term — concluding in August 2025 — he made a measurable impact by encouraging open communication, supporting member engagement, and continuing MSPCA’s focus on education and professional growth. His time as President exemplified what MSPCA leadership is all about: service, collaboration, and a vision for a stronger state association.
A New Chapter in Florida
Earlier this year, Kevin accepted an exciting new role with Turner Pest Control, where he now oversees operations for multiple offices across Florida. The move brought big changes — including relocating his young family to the Jacksonville area — but also new opportunities for growth and adventure.
Though his departure from Maryland came quickly last spring, the MSPCA community didn’t miss the chance to express its gratitude. The surprise presentation at PestWorld gave everyone the opportunity to thank Kevin in person for his years of leadership, friendship, and dedication to the industry.
“It was great to finally get the chance to thank Kevin face-to-face,” said current MSPCA President, Brett Liebermann. “He’s been a tremendous part of our organization, and we’re excited to see all he’ll achieve in his new role.”
Looking Ahead with Appreciation
Kevin’s story is a great reminder of what makes MSPCA strong — leaders who give their time and expertise to build something lasting. His work modernizing the Association’s bylaws and guiding it through leadership transitions will continue to benefit MSPCA members for years to come.
On behalf of the entire Maryland pest control community:
Congratulations, Kevin, and best wishes to you and your family as you begin this next chapter in Florida!
